In this live futures trading video, I capture real-time trades as they happen while explaining my thought process and decision-making along the way. Before getting started, I clarify that I’m trading futures and doing so through a prop firm—both of which I’ve linked resources for if you want to learn more. The session begins with me watching for a breakout on the Nasdaq futures (NQ), specifically around a key level marked on the chart. As the market approaches the 9:30 AM Eastern stock market open, I anticipate increased volatility and volume—something that often impacts futures even though they trade nearly around the clock. Right at the open, I take advantage of a quick burst of momentum and execute a fast breakout scalp. The trade happens extremely quickly—literally in seconds—highlighting just how fast futures markets can move during high-volume moments. From there, I look for additional setups, including a potential short trade and a breakdown through a trendline. While I identify a couple of opportunities, the execution doesn’t go perfectly. In one case, I deal with a frustrating fill and exit situation where the move I anticipated happens right after I’m out—something every trader can relate to. As the session continues, I make a conscious decision not to force trades just for the sake of activity or content. Instead, I choose discipline over overtrading and decide to end the session, reinforcing the idea that protecting gains and waiting for high-quality setups is key. This video highlights several important trading principles: Taking advantage of volatility around key times (like 9:30 AM) How fast futures trades can play out Dealing with imperfect executions and missed moves Avoiding the temptation to force trades Knowing when to walk away If you’re interested in futures trading, prop firms, breakout scalping, or seeing real-time trade decisions (including the frustrating moments), this video offers a realistic look at the process.
