In this live futures trading video, I record myself taking trades in real time as the market unfolds. I start by explaining that I’m trading futures through a prop firm, which allows me to access larger buying power while keeping relatively little of my own capital at risk. Futures trade 23 hours a day, six days a week, but volatility often increases when the U.S. stock market opens at 9:30 AM Eastern — which is what I’m preparing for. Before the open, I map out a pattern using yellow trend lines and outline two possible scenarios: a breakout through the top of the formation or a pullback long at a key support level. When the market opens, volatility immediately increases — and so does the drama. I enter on a pullback, but the platform glitches. Price moves through my level, yet my order confirmation doesn’t register properly. I click to exit multiple times, unsure if I’m filled or still in the trade. For a few tense seconds, I’m not sure what my actual position is, which is never a good feeling when scalping fast-moving futures. Thankfully, everything processes, and the trade ends up working in my favor for a strong gain. But the experience reinforces how critical platform reliability is when trading this style. Rather than press my luck in potentially unstable conditions, I decide to call it a day and protect the profit. Even though it was a dramatic trade, I finish green — a reminder that risk management and knowing when to stop are just as important as finding good setups.
