In this live futures trading video, I capture real-time trades as they happen while explaining my thought process, execution, and trade management along the way. Before getting started, I cover two key points: I’m trading futures, and I’m doing so through a prop firm—both of which I’ve linked resources for if you want to learn more. I begin the session slightly in the green from an earlier oil trade and shift my focus to the Nasdaq futures (NQ), where I’m watching for a breakout through a key resistance level. The plan is to play the breakout and target a move up toward VWAP, with the potential for a larger move if momentum continues. The first trade triggers quickly and reaches the initial target, but I run into an execution issue while trying to manage the position—accidentally clicking an annotation instead of my order. This results in a partial exit and a bit of frustration, even though the trade itself works. A perfect example of how platform execution and small mistakes can impact results. From there, I look for a continuation setup, but the market shifts and starts to roll over instead of breaking higher. I adapt by waiting for confirmation rather than trying to catch a falling move, which helps avoid unnecessary losses. Eventually, I flip bias and take a short trade as momentum begins to turn bearish. While the trade does work, I note that it doesn’t move as cleanly or quickly as expected, creating some hesitation and highlighting the importance of managing trades when momentum isn’t ideal. By the end of the session, I decide to call it a day—locking in profits while acknowledging both the wins and the execution mistakes along the way. This video is a great example of how trading involves not just strategy, but also discipline, adaptability, and handling imperfect situations in real time. If you’re interested in futures trading, breakout strategies, prop firms, or seeing real-time trades (including mistakes and adjustments), this video offers a transparent look at the process.
