In this live futures trading video, I capture real-time trades while walking through my thought process, decision-making, and trade management along the way. Before jumping in, I explain two key points: I’m trading futures, and I’m doing so through a prop firm. For those unfamiliar, I include resources that break down how the futures market works and how prop firms allow traders to limit personal risk while still accessing larger potential gains. I begin the session already in the green thanks to earlier oil trades, which highlights one of the biggest advantages of futures trading—markets are open 23 hours a day, six days a week. This makes it much easier to find trading opportunities, even with a busy schedule. As the U.S. stock market opens at 9:30 AM, I focus on both oil and the Nasdaq (NQ), anticipating increased volatility and volume. During the session, I take a quick scalp on oil right at the open, locking in a fast profit and demonstrating just how quickly futures can move. However, things start to shift as I juggle multiple markets. I discuss the challenge of splitting focus, which leads to a frustrating but realistic scenario: missing a clean winning setup on oil while taking a losing trade elsewhere. I also break down the importance of contract selection and risk management, specifically switching to MNQ (micro contracts) to slow down profit and loss swings. This becomes especially relevant during a volatile move where being in a smaller contract helps control downside risk. As the session continues, I attempt a short trade and even look to add to the position, but the price action becomes choppy and lacks follow-through. This leads to another key lesson—when a trade doesn’t behave the way it should, it’s often best to step aside rather than force the issue. By the end of the video, I recognize that the session is starting to “spin out of control”—a sequence many traders can relate to where missed opportunities, distractions, and imperfect trades begin stacking up. Instead of letting things escalate, I choose to stop trading and protect my gains, reinforcing the importance of discipline and self-awareness. If you’re interested in futures trading, prop firms, scalp trading, or seeing the reality of live trade management—including mistakes and missed opportunities—this video offers a transparent look at the process.
