In this live trading video, I record my screen and capture some of my futures trades as they happen in real time. I begin by explaining that I trade futures through a prop firm, which allows traders to risk a smaller amount of personal capital while still having access to larger upside potential. Right after the New York Stock Exchange opens, the market gets a burst of volatility and I catch a quick breakout trade. The move happens extremely fast and within seconds I’m able to lock in about $1,465 in profit. It’s one of those blink-and-you-miss-it trades where speed and preparation make all the difference. After that strong start, I shift my focus to risk management. Instead of trading the larger NQ contracts, I move over to MNQ contracts so gains and losses accumulate more slowly. I explain why sometimes choosing the smaller contract can be a smart way to protect profits that you’ve already made on the day. Later I attempt a short trade as the market starts to look a bit top heavy, but the setup fails and I get stopped out. Fortunately, because I chose MNQ instead of NQ, the loss stays relatively small. Even with that losing trade, the session still ends up nicely green overall. After a platform glitch logs me out briefly, I decide it’s a good signal to call it a day and walk away with the profits rather than force more trades. Throughout the video I talk about patience, managing risk after a good start, and why sometimes the best move is simply protecting the gains you already have.
